What can I expect on my first visit?

At your initial visit, the doctor will review your intake form with you in order to get a more detailed health history and to identify any other health issues that may be related to your current symptoms. An evaluation will then be performed so the doctor can identify specific pain generators, observe restricted planes of motion and detect specific dysfunctional tissues. Once a diagnosis has been made, the doctor will start the treatment process in order to help alleviate symptoms and improve function. The doctor will then discuss a personalized treatment plan for the patient in order to obtain desired results.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! We are in-network with the following insurance companies:

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • ConnectiCare
  • Oxford Health Plans
  • United Health Care

Prior to your visit, we are happy to check both in-network and out-of-network insurance benefits. We are currently in the process of credentialing with more insurance companies. Until this process is complete, there are affordable self pay rates and treatment packages offered.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is very safe. Some studies have actually shown that spinal manipulation has an equal, and in some cases shown a better effect at decreasing pain than commonly prescribed pain medications. There are some side effects to chiropractic care, as there are with any forms of treatment. The most common symptom patients experience is soreness which may last 24-48 hours.

Does a chiropractic adjustment/spinal manipulation hurt?

There is typically little, if any discomfort involved with an adjustment. After a thorough physical examination, the doctor will determine if an adjustment will be beneficial in improving symptoms. With acute symptoms, an adjustment may not be performed until tissue sensitivity has decreased and the patient can tolerate the procedure.

What happens to your body after a chiropractic adjustment?

During a chiropractic adjustment, you may or may not feel (and hear) a clicking or popping sound, which is a result of an air bubble within the joint popping, causing the joint spaces to rapidly open. This phenomenon has been shown to help reduce muscle spasm, decrease pain and increase range of motion. Most people feel “looser” following a chiropractic adjustment because the joint spaces have been opened which restores range of motion to the region being treated.

How often should you see a chiropractor?

When you are starting a new treatment plan, it’s common to have treatment multiple times per week. As function improves and symptoms diminish, that number could drop to just once a week. Once the treatment plan is complete, many continue with care at a frequency of once or twice per month, or seek treatment as needed.

Why is chiropractic care beneficial?

Chiropractic care can help reduce pain, increase range of motion, decrease inflammation, and improve overall physical function. Chiropractors treat many conditions affecting the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic care can not only help with spinal ailments, but also conditions involving the extremities such as ankle sprains, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many others. Chiropractic care can also improve pregnancy-related conditions.

Can chiropractic care help prevent injury?

Chiropractic care can help improve range of motion, thus allowing more joint movement which may reduce stress on surrounding tissues and structures. Some studies have shown that regular maintenance care resulted in a reduction in the total number of days per week with bothersome symptoms compared with symptom-guided treatment.

Is it good to see a chiropractor regularly, even without injury or pain?

Even without any symptoms or pain, regular chiropractic care may help prevent the occurrence and recurrence of new conditions and injuries. Once patients receive chiropractic care and experience the benefits from it, they realize how they should feel and understand what “normal” feels like. As time passes after treatment, patients may start to feel regions start to tighten up again, prompting them to seek care.
